Booking & price

How much does Christmas light installation cost?

It depends on the lights you choose, how much roofline and how many trees you want lit, how high the roofline is and how detailed the design is. Start a free online quote, show us where the lights go on a photo of your house, and the team for your city sends you a price.

How does the free quote work?

Enter your address and choose your lights: Christmas lights, tree lights, permanent lights or patio lights. Show us where they go on a photo of your house and see a preview of them lit up. Your local team reviews it and sends you a quote. It is free, there is no obligation, and it takes about three minutes.

When should I book my Christmas light installation?

As early in the fall as you can. Installation dates fill up as December gets closer, so booking early gives you the widest choice of dates. The online quote is open all year.

How can I pay?

Debit, credit, cash or e-transfer. We can take payment on site with a wireless terminal, or send you an invoice with a credit card link.

Lights & design

What kind of lights do you use?

Commercial-grade LED lights. Classic C9 bulbs or super-bright G30 globes for rooflines; C6, mini and micro lights for trees. LED lights use about 75% less energy than incandescent lights and last longer. We also install Govee smart lights.

Can I choose the colours and style?

Yes. Warm white, pure white, multicolour or your own mix of colours, on the rooflines, peaks, pillars, windows, doors and trees you choose. The quote shows you a preview of your house lit before anything is hung.

Can you hang lights I already own?

Yes. Choose "Installation only" in the quote and we hang the lights you supply. If you already own Winducks lights, choose "Winducks product re-installation" and we re-hang them each season.

Do your lights come with a warranty?

Yes. Our products and installation services carry a warranty of up to 5 years.

Safety & insurance

Is Winducks Lights insured?

Yes. We carry $5 million in liability insurance, our crews are WCB covered, and we can send you the documents on request.

Why hire professional Christmas light installers?

Hanging lights means ladders, rooflines and electrical connections in the cold. Professional installers bring the equipment and experience to do it safely, design the display around your house, and handle the wiring, connections, mounting, waterproofing and troubleshooting, then maintain the lights all season and take them down.

Will the installation damage my roof or gutters?

No. Our installers have the equipment and training to fasten your lights securely without damaging your property, and we take them down with the same care.

During the season & take-down

What happens if a light goes out during the season?

Call us. Our holiday light technicians are available throughout the season to fix any light-related issue, so your display stays lit until it comes down.

When should I take down my Christmas lights?

Ideally about two weeks after Christmas. But we can take them down any time you are ready: just give us a call.

Do you take the lights down after Christmas?

Yes. We take down the lights we install, whenever you are ready. Most people choose about two weeks after Christmas. Add take-down to any quote, or book it on its own.

What happens to the lights after take-down?

We take them down carefully so nothing is damaged. We do the takedown, you keep and store your own lights. We pack them into a storage bin we provide, so they are ready to go back up next season.

Can you take down lights someone else installed?

Yes. Take-down is available on its own: choose "Take-down" in the quote and tell us what is up.

Permanent lights

What are permanent Christmas lights?

A lighting system that stays on your house all year: small LED lights fixed under the eaves, in a slim aluminium track or straight to the soffit, controlled from an app. Christmas colours in December, warm white the rest of the year, any colour on any night.

What is the difference between Premium and Regular permanent lights?

Premium (with tracks) carries the lights in a slim aluminium track under the eave for the cleanest, most even wash of light. Regular lights (without tracks) are individual puck lights fixed straight to the soffit: the lower-cost way to light the roofline.

Do you install Govee permanent lights?

Yes. Choose "Govee Lights — Installation only" in the quote: you supply the Govee permanent outdoor kit and we install it for you, including mounting, wiring and setup.

Can I use permanent lights outside the holidays?

Yes, that is the point of them. Set warm white for everyday curb appeal, orange and purple for Halloween, red and white for Canada Day, or any colour you like from the app.
